There’s no way you can save me money. I get 75% discount… YA RIGHT!

Allot of times logistics managers and freight allocators don’t shop their pricing because they “KNOW” they’re already getting the best rates in town.  They have spent considerable amounts of time negotiating rates with tier 1 carriers (ex. yellow, roadway, Conway…) and take great pride in the deals they walk away with. Here in lies their problem though.  I don’t care how good a negotiator you are, if your companies not moving 30 + million dollars a year in freight, you physically will not be able to get the rates that I get.  The reason is, as a broker, my company moves just under a BILLION dollars worth a freight each year.  I then am able to take that annual spend, and use it as buying leverage against the various carriers.  That’s when 75% discount becomes a joke. Bottom line,  if your shopping for a barbecue or a plasma TV 75% discount is great, but when its comes to your LTL (less than truck load) freight, 80% is more where you want to be.
